In the southern part of Poland, near to the Slovakian border, there is one of the most beautiful places in the country. The mountain ranges of Pieniny captivate with beautiful scenery of limestone rocks. A uniqueness of the nature of that area was a reason of establish Pieniny National Park. One of the biggest attractions of this region is the picturesque rafting of the Dunajec River Gorge.
The Dunajec River flows among the middle part of the mountain ranges of the Pieniny. Along the right bank of the Dunajec River, almost entirely on the Slovakian side, there is a cycling route named Pienińska Road. The tour trail starts in Szczawnica. The visitors are welcomed with a skyline of mountain peaks with the Three Crowns Massif. After around an hour of cycling there is possible to see one of the most famous sacred buildings in Pieniny. The Red Monastery is located in the St. Anthony's Valley, just 200 metres from the Slovakian harbor of rafting. There is not far away to Sromowce Niżne where there is a beginning of two-hour rafting on the Dunajec River Gorge. This is the best way to reach the centre of the Pieniny National Park. The rafting route will be realised by rafting pontoons. The qualified instructors watch over the safety of the participants. The crossing of Dunajec River Gorge ends in Szczawnica where the visitors can taste the local mineral waters and the best ice cream in Podhale region.
