Follow by the Pope Jan Paweł II
Krakow and Małopolska is the only place in the world to contain places connected with the life of John Paul II almost in its entirety. There are places here which remember Him as a student of Polish, as a labourer, an actor and a poet, as a seminarian and as a young priest celebrating his first Mass, as a university lecturer and as a priest to students and families, as a bishop, as the Archbishop of Krakow and, finally, as the Head of the Catholic Church. Despite the fact that, from the moment of his election to the Holy See in 1978, Karol Wojtyła (John Paul II) was never to live in Krakow again, every one of his visits to Capital City of Kings left its mark, and not only in the hearts of her people. With an urge to recall those meetings, the Krakovians have erected statues in his honour, hung commemorative plaques and named institutions after Him.
